I started with the masthead Beat the Rap and rejected that in favour of Beats and
Barz. I found a font for my masthead in Photoshop. Because the font had been
imported, I was unable to move it or alter the position of the masthead. This became
increasingly frustrating as the masthead was set too far over to the left and in a corner.
As a result of this I decided to start again, and renamed my magazine Graffiti I wanted
a one word masthead. I had read a lot of research on the origins of rap and learned that
graffiti played a large part in the creation of rap music. The masthead felt edgy and I
initially wanted to use AR darling as a font in recognition of its Graffiti like quality.
Having done this, I was unhappy with the look of it and changed it to Impact which I
found clearer and more professional looking. I was much happier with this font, and it
inspired me to finish my cover in a different way.
