Competency 1
Identify as a professional social worker
and conduct oneself accordingly.

Competency 1.1
Advocate for client access to services
of social work
In school social work, there has been
two incidents referred to DSS, so a
social worker could make a home
visit to check on the child in danger.

Competency 1.2
Practice personal reflection and selfcorrection to assure continual
professional development.
When having meetings with parents
about their childs unexcused
absences, Ms. Flossie made sure to
document when that person came,
what that person said, and how many
days each child missed so far.

Competency 1.3
Attend to professional demeanor in
appearance, and communication.
Though, Pembroke is a small area
and majority of this community are
know each other or related somehow,
but when it comes to doing your job,
there can not be any exceptions or
second chances because you know
that person.

Competency 1.4
Demonstrate professional roles and
boundaries
Everyday I come in, I make sure to
dress and act professionally. I come
dress in slacks and button up shirts
and make sure to compose my
attitude and facial expressions at all
times when dealing with a student or
student.

Competency 1.5
Engage in career-long learning.
The social work community holds
different workshops and trainings
throughout the year. Ms. Flossie and I
will be attending the workshop on
Monday to learn more about human
trafficking, and she will also be
attending the national workshop in
Baltimore this year.

Competency 1.6
Use supervision and consultation.
When dealing with clients, the
supervisor makes sure to give them
their contact information incase they
may have questions or need anymore
assistance.
