Maco Values Formation

1. What did you learn about yourself and of others?

I learned that values can be positive or negative depending on the scenario and that clarifying ones
values is very important for the person to know himself more. As for myself, I learned that I really
am a carefree and nonchalant person nowadays especially when it comes to academic matters.
However, I am not really experiencing the positive effects of the values that I currently have because
I keep worrying about it. Thus, not achieving peace and tranquility at all as well as not having stress
and tension for only a short period of time until the deadline comes up. I do not slack off before and
I care about my academic standing so much. Perhaps, I am still not used to the new normal style of
education. Also, our house is really not conductive for learning for the neighbors are too loud and
there are too many distractions. As for others, I learned that everyone all has their own values and it
is one of the factors that make them unique individuals. I also learned that people you are
interacting with can really influence your values in life so make sure to surround yourself with the
right people.

2. What did you discover about yourself when your clarified your values?
I discovered that I really am an individualistic person. I prefer to work on my own than doing it in
groups because (1) I am afraid I might bring my group down along with me and (2) I got my own
phase in completing tasks. However, this does not mean that I do not need other people anymore.
Everybody needs somebody sometimes.

3. How will express your disagreement with another person’s values?

I will not do anything as long as it does not affect me. As I have mentioned earlier, everyone has
unique values. However, knowing myself, I would probably argue for a bit then give up later on or
the person and I can both come into a compromise.

4. How would you react when you are in a situation that you are unable to stand for your values?
Considering that it only happens rarely, I would probably just let it slip. However, if it happens
occasionally, I would probably evaluate the situation as to why I am unable to stand for my own
values.

5. As a student of MSU-IIT, how will you demonstrate the core values of the institute?
I can demonstrate the core values of the institute not just by familiarizing it but also by living with it.
I must keep it in mind and apply it in everything I do.

6. As a Filipino youth, how would you maintain the positive Filipino values?
I can maintain the positive Filipino values as a Filipino youth by preserving it and making sure that I
live with it just like the core values of MSU-IIT.
