truth. Writing matter, and how you say it and in what tone.

Arguments:

1. Creative and productive activities that engages us at high levels of inquiry


and critical thinking, often a conversation
a. Seeking for the best solution of a problem.
2. Debate is defined as a formal contest of argument in which two opposing
teams defend and attack a given proposition
a. If pro-con are used it can turn a debate away from intellectual critical
thinking into a game of winners and losers
3. Explicit- directly stated argument: president’s speech; Implicit- indirectly
stated argument: music lyrics
4. Argument requires a reason, and support to back up what you are saying.
