EVALUATION QUESTIONS PLAN

Question 1: In what ways does your media product use,

develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?
Use and develop:
Within the average length of time of a music video - (average length being
4-5 minutes)
Whilst still featuring the entire song from start to finish, in order to
properly promote the song.
SHOW LENGTH OF MY PRODUCT
Music video general Camera movement is used to follow the main
character
EXAMPLE FROM VIDEO
Jump cuts used in music videos to have a sudden change from one scene
to another, transitions such as fade used instead of jump cuts to create a
different affect e.g. first transition in my product (entering a dream/start
with a bright flash fading into colour)
EXAMPLE FROM VIDEO
Lighting and colour used to create a mood or to illustrate a state of mind
or place (used in my video to show depression and tragedy and also to
make the dream state Joey is in more visually convincing) (convention of
indie pop)
EXAMPLES FROM VIDEO
Indie pop Genre main locations are in places like; studios, cities, parks or
woodland areas, use location to create mysteries that attract the audience
to the story and performance.
QUICK SHOW OF LOCATIONS
Narrative used to visualize to the viewer the story the song is trying to
tell, linking to Godwins theory of illustration and amplification.
Sound dialogue is often used in indie pop music at the beginning or the
end to tell a story, I developed this concept with a voice over (memory of
phone call)
PLAY VOICEOVER
Camera work close ups to established characters and long shots to
establish location and also mood of the product. Sometimes used to
isolate protagonist and make the viewer sympathise for them.
EXAMPLES OF THIS CAMERA WORK

Challenge:

Indie pop Genre most indie pop music videos have a live performance
featured, in order to demonstrate their talent but also to show their
passion for the music they make, but in my video chosen to just display a
narrative, with no live performance and no lip syncing.
Reason not to distract from the story, show a true visual rep of the song
