The
Kantaya
Proposal
February 25, 2016
OVERVIEW
In the beginning of our second semester of 10th grade, we
discovered Kantaya as a simple IA project. A year ago, we
would have never imagined ourselves leading a 40-member
club. Summarized, Kantaya is a Peruvian NGO dedicated to
providing what this country needs the most: quality
education

to

underprivileged

communities. We have

accomplished many things last semester. However, we want

to continue expanding our goals and making a bigger
difference, but this isn't possible with money from our own
pockets. We believe in Kantayas potential and its rising
popularity in school, which is why we want to know how
much of the club's costs the school would be willing to
cover.

THE K.K. INITIATIVE

An ongoing fundraising project done once a month, inspired by the fact that S/. 3 can provide
one day of quality education for a Kantaya student. The K.K. name comes from Kantaya
followed by a product which we modify by making it begin with a K.

GOALS
1.

To successfully complete four monthly visits of educational workshops in the Kantaya

premises.

2. To successfully complete four monthly fundraising sales under the KK initiative in FDR.

EDUCATIONAL VISITS TO KANTAYA PREMISES AT VENTANILLA

PAST: SEMESTER 1 VISITS
Peruvian Geography Workshop:

learning about our countrys regions, rivers, flora, fauna

and appreciating its rich diversity through coloring, presenting, sculpting and games.
Reading Workshop El Da del Libro:
acknowledging the value of reading by sharing
books and doing fun activities based on these.
English Workshop
:
Mitigating the social gap by sharing a powerful tool with the children:
English. With pictures and games, we taught them words in English for animals, food,
songs and greetings.
Christmas Workshop:
Bringing the joyful holiday spirit in a series of fun activities
including art & craft ornament making, cookie decorating and relay races.

UPCOMING: SEMESTER 2 VISITS

Think Green Workshop:
Learn about global warming, the effects of littering, hygiene
and spot trash around Ventanilla in an effort to raise environmental awareness in the
children since a young age.
Math Games Workshop:

Play with numbers to realize that math is important, interesting

and even fun.
Painting Workshop
: Let our creativity run free in a morning filled with different painting
techniques. From water coloring to tempera, the children will be able to express
themselves artistically.
Robotics Workshop
:
With Ms. Angies idea, we could potentially bring a robotics
workshop to the Kantaya students.

CONCLUSION
Public education in Peru has ranked amazingly poor for the past years. Kantaya was born to
provide what every child deserves. With a good basic education, Peruvian children can later
achieve college degrees and a decent job; this would not only boost the countrys economy,
but also help future generations of families to take big steps away from poverty. For more
information on Kantaya, refer to the clubs constitution attached.
Efficient organization and constant planning ahead have been the key to our accomplishments
and growth as a club. Please save this copy in case of further references. Thank you.
