SEED GRANTS

Building and changing our communities from the ground UP

Calling all neighborhood leaders!


Do you have an idea for a community building activity or know of a much needed neighborhood improvement?
The District 5 Council Office is offering a total of three seed grants, up to $500 from neighborhood and community organizations
located in District 5.
Grants will be awarded to neighborhood associations or communities for community building events, capacity building or
organizational development, neighborhood beautification or other activities that furthers the vibrancy or goals of the neighborhood
and/or its association. Recipients are encouraged to use grant funds to leverage other funding sources and contributions.
Examples of potential projects include: community events, organizational support, community gardens, public art and more.
Projects can be situated on private properties as long as the site is visible and accessible to all neighborhood residents, or on
memorial
squares,
portions
of
city
parks,
or
other
public
lands,
pending
city
approval.
The goals of the grant program are to build healthier and more vibrant communities and neighborhood organizations across
Sacramento, while encouraging residents to engage in efforts to improve their communities.
How to Apply: In 500 words or less, describe how the funds will be allocated and how this would improve your community or
support the goals and improve the sustainability of your neighborhood organization. Please also include a budget breakdown with
your application.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of residents. Applications must be received no later than April

ELIGIBILITY:

There is no age limit for applicants. We welcome ideas from neighborhood leaders of all ages!
Applicants are required to either live in the neighborhood where the project is set to take place, and/or be a D5
constituent.
Projects must be implemented within a year of receiving the grant.
We would love it if you were to share with the office the progress of your project. Pictures, videos, etc. would be
appreciated.
We would also love to feature interested grant recipients on the offices official Facebook and Twitter at a future date
help spread the word for your project throughout the community.
