Year 1RHA Weekly Update (April 25-28)

Learning Experiences
Maths:
This week students began to look at direction
and how to find their way through a maze.
Students completed a maze on their own and
then explained the path they took to a friend
who then recorded the path on a grid. Students
learned vocabulary such as left, right, straight,
back, turn and turn. Students also reviewed
number bonds.

English:
We finished learning about ng, qu, magic e,
and x. We started a new unit where we
explored some of the long vowel sounds.
Students practiced writing words with similar
ending and beginning sounds. Students read in
their groups and practiced spelling their magic
words.

4 day weekend.
New unit staring on May 9th

Inquiry: Students explored the story of Peter pan.


Students looked at the setting of neverland and
what they might hear, see, and smell. Students
then created their own magic lands. This was thhe
summative project for this unit and students also
wrote about their lands and tried to be as
imaginative as possible.
