    Walter Elias Disney (1901-1966) was an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and began his career drawing cartoons and selling them to neighbors. He co-founded Disney Brothers Studio with his brother Roy in 1923 which eventually became The Walt Disney Company. Some of his most famous early works included Mickey Mouse, the Silly Symphonies animated short films, and the feature films Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio and Bambi. He also opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California in 1955. Disney won 23 Academy Awards and received 59 nominations over his career.
