My Reflection on Educational Technology (ED TECH)

I have benefited greatly, from the start of this course and prior course ICT. All of this
could not be achieved without the help of my lecturers Mrs. Alexander, who work seamlessly to
involve all students by means of discovery learning and self discovery. When looking at new
technologies in the classroom and the trends of technology, I became more adaptive to be willing
to learn by researching the technology definitions and terms used in technology and use tools to
be a facilitator in the classroom and also a motivator to my colleagues based on my knowledge
of newer and advance trends in technology and how they can be integrated within the
classroom. I believe that technology can be used as a learning tool to meet the needs of the
different types of learners in the classroom.
This course has paved the way for me to become appreciative and equipped to use
educational technology, ranging from traditional to modern educational media. This course
served to orient me to the pervasiveness of Educational technology in society, lend
familiarization on how educational technology can be utilized as media for the avenues teaching
learning process in school, uplift and promote learning through the use of learning technology
etc. The course has also given me the opportunity to experience and engaging more with
technology use.
I have learnt how to integrating technology into teaching and learning which focuses on
introducing, reinforcing, supplementing and extending the knowledge and skills to learners can
become exemplary users of educational technology.

This course has helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the computer as well as hands-on
application of computer skills. The course is directed at enhancing teaching-and-learning through
technology integration. The lessons learnt had also presented the course objectives by providing
education in the use of technology by instruction and providing knowledge and skills on
technology integration instruction to learners, impart learning experiences in instructional
planning, learn to use and evaluate computer-based-educational resources, etc.
The National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) are the standards for learning, teaching,
and leading in the digital age and are widely recognized and adopted worldwide. Technology has
forever changed not only what we need to learn, but the way we learn. The NETS set a standard
of excellence and best practices in learning, teaching, and leading with technology in education.
The benefits of using the NETS include: Improving higher-order thinking skills, such as problem
solving, critical thinking, and creativity, preparing students for their future in a competitive
global job market, designing student-centered, project-based, and online learning environments,
guiding systemic change in our schools to create digital places of learning, inspiring digital age
professional models for working, collaborating, and decision making.
The NETS for students are: The standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge students need
to learn effectively and live productively in an increasingly global and digital world. While
the NETS for Teachers are: The standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge educators need
to teach, work, and learn in an increasingly connected global and digital society.
In order to facilitate digital age learners teachers can promote creativity and innovations. Thus,
Students will demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative
products and processes using technology. By creating an audio story telling using a podcast

instead of show and tell. Another standard is communication and collaboration Students use
digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a
distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.
The various tools created using the ISTE Nets Standards were very educational, some of these
tool that were introduced to me during this course are digital photo story by creating
slideshows using digital photos. With a single click, you can touch-up, crop, or rotate pictures
and also stunning special effects, soundtracks, and own voice narration to photo stories to be
played. Another tool I learnt about is interactive PowerPoint. I used pictures and an interesting
and simple game for the students to play at the end of the power point, this helps to make the
lesson fun, interesting and effective, it also helps to make students be engaged in the lesson.
As a teacher in training, I would no doubt utilize technology in lessons for the benefit of all in
the future. I would let students also see new levels of learning that require the appropriate use of
instruction with the use of information technology in aiding students to become computer
literate. Also, discovery learning will help students have meaningful learning that gives focus to
new experience related to what learner already knows. I believe I have an integral role in making
this a reality and aid in the accomplishing vision 2030 goals in integrating technology education
in my lesson. I am responsible to keep an upbeat with the trends in technology to facilitate
learning for the twenty first century learner. It is an overwhelming but exciting opportunity, and
Im motivated to do my best, because my best is good enough.
