Topic:-Waste disposal and management


Venue:- Delhi Public school Panipat City in collaboration with Terrile Middle
School ,New Jersey

DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL PANIPAT CITY

TERRIL MIDDLE SCHOOL, NEW JERSEY

Aim:- To study the techniques of waste disposal and management.


Learning objectives: To increase the student awareness ,
To develop an understanding of methods available for minimizing environmental
pollution
To develop a responsible attitude towards waste problems.
Supporting Material:- Bibliography:-Refrences( Wikpedia and Google), visit to
sugar mill, activity of compositing and oil painting.
Concepts discussed:- Biodegradable waste,Non biodegradable, waste ,domestic
solid waste,latest techniques of waste disposal and management, how to create best
out of waste.

The enthusiastic participants were divided in cooperative groups.


They were guided to perform the project in step wise as follows:Part-1 (Introduction)
Students collected information about waste and their types,
disposal and management in form of table.

Part-2
Students surveyed the solid domestic waste produced in their
home in the course of one week and recorded the data in the
form of table

Part-3
Visit to sugar mill to observe local waste management
techniques.

VISIT TO SUGAR MILL


Done composting in school garden with biodegradable
waste.

COMPOSITING

An experience of painting wooden door with paint mixed


with used oil.

Part-4
Exchanged information with Terrill Middle School, New Jersey
through E-mails.

Part-5
Students surveyed on collecting information about waste
disposal techniques in Singapore and Canada.

Part-6
Project folder completion in the form of power point
Presentation (please find the attachment).

Part-7

Self Reflection-:- Students prepared best out of waste materials


and collecting information about;
Use of waste material in India-Indraprastha park, Sulabh
International, Rock garden and making of road by using
polythene by RV college of Engineering in collaboration with
Banglore.

Learning outcomes: Exposure on international level


Development of scientific skill
Increased awareness about waste management and disposal.
