A function is a special type of relationship where for every input value, there is an
unique output value.
g(x) =
Domain: Range:
The function g(x) is considered to be inverse of f (x) = x2 as it transforms an input value in the
inverse/opposite way of the x2 function. Mathematically, we write g(x) = f-1(x), that is, g(x) is the
inverse of f(x).
If we were to graph the function f(x) = x2 and its inverse on the same graph, we will see that the
functions are reflections of each other in the line y = x.
Your assignment for 3.2 Inverse of a function? is to complete a chart similar to the one above. The
chart will be for both the function f (x) = x^3 and the inverse of f(x). You should graph the functions
on the same axes. This assignment is due at the beginning of next class.
