Impressionism is a 19th-century art movement that originated with a group of Parisbased artists whose independent exhibitions brought them to prominence during the 1870s
and 1880s.

Impressionism emerged in France at the same time that a number of other painters,
including the Italian artists known as the Macchiaioli, and Winslow Homer in the United
States, were also exploring plein-air painting

Modernism, in general, includes the activities and creations of those who felt the
traditional forms of art, architecture, literature, religious faith, philosophy, social organization,
activities of daily life, and even the sciences, were becoming ill-fitted to their tasks and
outdated in the new economic, social, and political environment of an emerging fully
industrialized world.

Age of Reason
Started from 1700 to 1800
The Age of Reason; Being an Investigation of True and Fabulous Theology is
an influential work written by English and American political activist Thomas Paine.
Most of Paine's arguments had long been available to the educated elite, but by
presenting them in an engaging and irreverent style, he made deism appealing and
accessible to a mass audience.
