Procedures: 1.      Talk to students about pigeons that were mentioned in the
book “Under the Blood Red Sun”, and use chart to identify the
different parts of a pigeon.  Tap into prior knowledge/ talk about the
pigeons they are unfamiliar with (color and size of the pigeon).

2.      Go into bird porch and talk about some of the posters, etc. 
Talk about the feeders and their lettering.

3.      Break into 2 groups with their Para-educators and assign them
to a computer

4.      Give students time to visit http://www.the-


piedpiper.co.uk/th9a.htm and list the 4 different types of pigeons.
(10-15 minutes)

5.      Talk about the different pigeons they saw and draw what type
of pigeon was described in the book, “Under the Blood Red Sun”.
