Operations Manager

Background:

invent DCU Ltd is the University’s Commercialisation and Technology company. The mission of
invent DCU Ltd is to ‘’transform knowledge into commercial success’’ by providing a variety of
resources and services for the commercial exploitation of technologies, knowledge and ideas
arising out of the research base of the University or from external entrepreneurs and graduates.
invent is now seeking an Operations Manager.

The Person:

The successful person will be a graduate, preferably with additional postgraduate or professional
qualifications and will have experience of successful business management and marketing,
preferably in a commercial environment, together with experience of and understanding of the
entrepreneurial culture.

They will possess excellent management, leadership and interpersonal skills, together with skills
to deliver successful outcomes through a professional, responsive and creative approach.

The Role:

The Operations Manager will assist the Director in the planning, marketing, management and
development of the services of invent , in order to achieve all strategic and operational objectives
and targets, and to take lead responsibility for specific areas within and across activities as
indicated below.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Develop and implement a strategic marketing campaign to ensure that invent is recognised
as the leading facilitator for the creation and development of innovation led, high growth,
knowledge based companies.
• Develop and implement a strategic marketing campaign to ensure occupancy targets are
reached
• Manage the day to day activities of the Centre
• Develop and manage the campus company development programme including:
• Development and administration of Mentoring panel
• Development and administration of panel for the provision of
Financial, Legal, Marketing/ Sales expertise to the start up
companies
• Organisation of profiling and networking events
• Responsibility for the overall administration of the Centre
• Liaison with client companies, including the preparation of leasing arrangements and
shareholder agreements

Initially this will be a 3 year contract.
