Injury to tibia/ Fracture

bleeding from damaged ends of bone

& from surrounding tissue

hematoma
(w/in medullary canal,
b/w the fractured ends of bone
& beneath periosteum)

bone tissue adjacent

the fracture immediately dies

stimulates intense
inflammatory response
(vasodilation, exudation of plasma & leukocytes, growth factors & mast cells that
simultaneously decalcify the fractured bone ends)

increased capillary permeability

fluid/cellular exudation
