An Urban Model…

An urban model is a simple way of showing how


settlements grow and how the land in different areas
of the settlement are used.
The CBD…

offices,
restaurants,
cafes, museums,
theatres etc…
The Old Industrial Area…

Land used by
factories in the
past. Area
often looks run
down.
Working Class Housing…

Mostly terraced
houses. Maybe
some high-rise
flats. Corner
Shops.
Middle Class Housing…

New houses and


housing estates.
New shopping
centres. Parks
and other open
areas.
The Commuter Zone…

Small villages right on


the edge of the city
that some people
commute (travel)
from.
High Class Housing…

Private, top
quality housing
with large
gardens and
garages.
