(Bratislava-Budapest-Belgrade-Bar-Bari)
Abstract - The entering of east European countries in the EU will undoubtedly lead to
a higher intensity of goods exchange with these countries or over their territories. In
such situation it is important to stop the negative consequences that might happen
(pollution, noise, accidents) with a correct traffic politics. The use of combined
transport surely represents an integral part of such politics. This paper analyses the
fulfillment of conditions for introducing and successful use of combined transport on
the part of route 5B through Serbia and Montenegro. Current activities are also shown
and the existing steps that lead to successful implementation and the development of
such transport techniques on the considered direction are established. The paper
highlights the importance of such transport that eliminates tough competitor struggle
between rail and road traffic and through their mutual cooperation it represents the
basis of real coordination on route 5B.
