The Environment.

Introduction:
Today the environment is a huge topic in our society, and especially the carbon dioxide escape.
The carbon dioxide escape comes from the fossil fuels, which create the energy to the world
today. The problem with the carbon dioxide escape is that the ozone layer gets thicker, and then
the world’s temperature will rise. If the temperature rises, the ice on the poles will melt and
around the Equator the desert get bigger, and destroy much of the earth.

My Topic:
If the carbon dioxide has to get lower, we have to use renewable energy. Renewable energy is
energy, which never runs out. I have chosen the energy from waves, because the water in the seas
and oceans never is still as wind can be. The wave energy does not use any kind of burning, so it
will not make any carbon dioxide escape. And when we know, that wave energy is the best
method to create energy without carbon dioxide escape is the question: Which one is the best?
There are two kinds of wave machines, The Wave Dragon and the Pelamis, and I will start to tell
about the Wave Dragon.

Wave Dragon:
This machine comes from the Danish company, Wave Dragon in Copenhagen. The Wave Dragon has
300 meter arms, which do, as the waves comes into the dragon’s middle and then it can catch
many waves, and much energy. The waves flow up on the Wave Dragon, and then the water will
run down in a hole, where there are turbines, which are driven by the running water.

Pelamis:
This machine comes from Ocean Power Delivery Limited, in Edinburgh. The Pelamis twists in the
waves up and down, and are dividing in four parts with a link. Between the parts, there is a
hydraulic pump, and this pump creates a pressure, which presses oil through a generator, and
creates energy like that, and then the energy will be sent through the power cable to a power
station.

Which one is the smartest one?

This question is a very difficult question, because no one has an answer, because the wave energy
is so new, so it’s impossible to know which one is the best. Personally I think the Wave Dragon is
the smartest, because it is wider, so it is more effective. The Wave Dragon is actually the one
which creates most energy, and it is about 60000 houses per machine, against which the Pelamis
can create energy to about 15000 per machine. If
