6. Result

i. Bill 1 (23/12/2010 – 24/01/2011)

Total usage of December + Total usage of January = 11.4406 + 30.0953
= 41.5359 KWH
ii.Bill 2 (24/01/2011 – 21/02/2011)
Total usage of January + Total usage of February = 8.7713 + 24.9726
= 33.7439 KWH

iii.Electricity usage Saving :

41.5359-33.743941.5359×100%=18.76%

6.Discussion

i. There are difference between the estimated electricity usage and the actual
electricity usage because :

– The efficiency of the electrical appliances have decreased.

– The time used in calculation is just estimation.
– There are some losses in wire during electricity transfer.

i. How to save electricity?

– Instead of using ceiling fan, I used table fan as the power input of table fan
is lower than ceiling fan.
– Normally the lights in living room never turned on unless my friend is giving
tuition class.
– The boiled water from kettle is stored in thermos to minimize heat loss so
that we can minimize the use of kettle as the kettle needs high input power.
