Credit system in BSc nursing
Academic year is divided in to 03 regular terms.
Each term is 10 weeks in duration.
Study hours of each course according to credit system.
• A course with 1 lecture per week or 15 hours duration per term is
equivalent to 1 credit.
• A course with 2-3 hours of laboratory work per week or 30-40
hours per term is equivalent to 1 credit and
• A course with 3-6 hours of practicum’s or fieldwork per week or
45-90 hours per term is equivalent to 1 credit

If a course is composed of lecture and laboratory work
the number of study hours of each part is arranged in
proportion to the number of credits assigned.

Credit system in MSc nursing
Programme is made up of 180 credits for one calendar
year
Consists of 60 credits in core module, evidenced based
practice development and 40 credits of optimal
modules.
A further 60 credits in the second semester including
one 20- credit core research module and 40 credits of
optional modules.
Then finally completing a 60- credit dissertation
module on a negotiated subject.

Credit system in MPhil in nursing

MPhil students required 45 credits. Students also earn


15 credits for the transferable skills, training and
research support course unit.
Course unit are taught online with some offering a
combination of online and face to face methods.
Each 15- credit online course unit requires
approximately 50 hours engagement with online
learning materials.

Credit system in PhD in nursing
The nursing PhD program requires a minimum of 57
credit hours beyond a master’s degree in nursing .
This program requires 15 dissertation credit hours, 15
research methods credit hours and nine credit hours of
electives,
 Required course: 57 credit hours
 Foundation area : 9 credit hours
 Knowledge development: 9 credit hours
 Research methods: 15 credit hours
 Elective course: 9 credit hours
 Dissertation Research: 15 credit hour.
