REFLECTION-5

What I learnt was anchors. They are actually like life-saver because they take us
from moment we feel bad to good moments we have experienced. Also, there
are anchors which work automatically and sometimes take us to our childhood.
We are using anchors throughout our lives but we can make use of them
especially in bad mood. As to me, when I am in a stressful situation, I listen to
my favorite songs to make me relax or when I feel depressed, I dream of my
sister’s hugging me with her little arms. That puts a smile on my face.

As a future teacher I hope I can use my anchors to save myself from difficult
situation. Moreover, I can help my students to have different anchors to relieve
their anxiety of exams. Using some breathing exercises will be beneficial to set
their mind at rest. We mentioned about some ways of using anchors in the
classroom. I think I can use quiet arms because shouting at students like “shut
up and listen to me“ doesn’t work properly. The other thing I can use is story
time as I believe it will be useful for students to listen story in English with soft
music. Teachers mostly use their voice to give the lesson so tone of voice is
highly critical for listeners. I think I will use my voice properly to keep students
awake in the lesson and I can vary my voice to get their attention on the lesson.
Using a different tone of voice will be effective for story-telling as young
learners like imagining the characters whose voices the teacher imitates. Also, I
can use colorful charts on the wall to remind them the words we learn or
homework I give them.

Anchors are obviously effective for classroom situation both for the teachers
and for the students because they give calmness and relaxation therefore I
hope I can develop anchors not only for me but also for my students.
