This document provides instructions for an activity where volunteers are sent outside while one reads a passage. That person must then relay the passage to the next volunteer without seeing the original, and so on, until the final volunteer shares with the class what they were told. The intent is to demonstrate how a message can become distorted as it is passed between people without the original source.

1. Ask the audience for 4 volunteers. Call them to the dais. 2. Send 3 of them outside the room. To the volunteer inside give him/her a print of this sheet of paper. 3. He has to read out any story (provide a passage as a handout) and memorize as much as he can. 4. Give him 1 minute to read this passage. You should be strict with the time. 5. Call in the next person. 6. The 1st person has to pass on the passage to the next person without seeing this paper. Give him 1 min. 7. The next person has to listen carefully what the 1 st person has told, and pass it on to the next person. 8. The process continues. 2nd to 3rd. 9. 3rd to 4th. 10. Now the 4th person has to tell to the whole class what he was told. 11. You will see that the some of the information has been distorted, assumed or deleted. 12. A very effective fun activity that the audience will love.
