OVERVIEW

GENERAL PURPOSE

GENERAL PURPOSE
y

The high - strength and abrasion resistant features of gypsum board attribute to its high structural integrity which can resist impact and abuse when used as partition and ceiling.

HISTORY
GENERAL DEVELOPMENT: Between 1910 and 1930 INTRODUCTION: Beginning with wrapped board edges and elimination of 2 inner layers of felt paper. OTHER DEVELOPMENTS: Introduction of air-entrainment technology that made boards lighter and durable.

GENERAL FEATURES
y y y

Fire resistant Gypsum will not support combustion. Gypsum board constructions weigh appreciably less than masonry assemblies. Gypsum board construction offers excellent resistance to airborne and impact sound transmission without excessive bulk or weight.

GENERAL FEATURES
y

Gypsum board construction is suitable as: a. divider, corridor and party walls b. pipe chase and shaft enclosures c. radiant-heat ceilings d. exterior walls and wall furring e. membrane fire resistant constructions
