Trouble flares in city after parade ends

POLICE were attacked with a barrage of petrol bombs and other missiles during rioting in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast last night. The trouble flared shortly after the annual Twelfth parade passed peacefully along the Crumlin Road. Other disturbances took place in Londonderry, Armagh city and Ballymena, where a car was set on fire in the Dunclug estate. In east Belfast, the Twelfth parade along the volatile lower Newtownards Road passed off without serious incident, despite fears that the interface violence of recent weeks would be repeated. See page 4

ORANGEMEN and women brought a sea of colour and unrivalled pageantry to towns and villages across the province

yesterday during the annual Twelfth celebrations. Speaking last night, Grand Master Edward Stevenson praised all those involved in organising the parades and said there is nothing quite like

the unrivalled spectacle of the Twelfth. Belfast hosted the largest parade while Randalstown and Comber revelled in their 2011 flagship status drawing larger crowds than ever to the

increasingly family-friendly events. Additional attractions around the venues included everything from a replica 1690 Williamite camp site to fairground rides and bouncy castles. Turn to page 3
