Pumpkin Science

October 4, 2011 Pumpkin Science is here again! During the week of October 24, the 4th Grade students will once again participate in a hands-on, engaging activity called Pumpkin Science. This is a wonderful addition to our Environment Unit in science. We will be working with the students and a pumpkin in small groups to make predictions about weight, height and circumference, sink or float and the interior of the pumpkin. We will be cutting into the pumpkins to analyze the interior and to determine if the predictions were correct. After recording all findings, the students will compare their findings with other groups in the class. To be able to accomplish this exciting, engaging activity we need your help!!! Each class will need volunteers to lead a small group in the experiments and with the carving of their pumpkin from 11:40 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27th. We also will need pumpkins of medium size along with child safety carving tools to be donated. If you would be willing to donate your time, a pumpkin, or some carving tools, please fill out the bottom portion and return it to your childs teacher by Friday, October 14. Thank you for making Pumpkin Science a huge success! The Fourth Grade Team~Mrs. Halicki, Mrs. Maly, Mrs. Rebstock and Ms. Swift. ********************************************************************************
