NABJ in N.C Social on 10/22 a. RSVP by Friday at www.SignUpGenius.com/go/nabj b. As of 10 a.m. Monday, nine people had RSVPd. 2. Benefits for TABJ Member a. Sheeka discussed the free movie tickets paid members earned and the possibilities for other incentives. 3. A&T resume critiques on 10/6 a. Tiffany, Sheeka, Tracey and Elise Roberts (News 14) helped critique some A&T students resumes on Oct. 6. b. Tiffany discussed the need for students to learn more about spelling and grammar, tailoring resumes to the certain job descriptions and having clear career objectives. 4. A&T resume critiques on 10/20 a. Sylvia Obell, the president of the N.C. A&T Student Chapter of NABJ, requests that TABJ members help critique students resumes/tapes at their bi-weekly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 20. b. Students will attend Howard Univesritys internship and job fair on Oct. 27. 5. Upcoming Events a. NABJs Multimedia Short Course at A&T will celebrate its 20th anniversary in March. SUGGESTION: TABJ should do something to mark the occasion. b. Bowling Fundraiser on 12/10 PURPOSE: get money to hire CPa to file paperwork for 501 (c)(3)

SUGGESTION: Spread it out so that it doesnt conflict with Santillions bowling fundraiser. We will submit an NABJ chapter grant application by Oct. 15 to get money for the fundraiser. John contact three bowling alleys in Greensboro (Triad Lanes, Gae City Lanes, AMF Lanes). He only heard form Triad Lanes. They gave us two options: 1. Option 1 a. TL will reserve one or two lanes for 2 hours. b. The alley will get $6 ot $7 of the total admission fee from each participant. TABJ keeps the rest. c. SUGGESTION: $15 or $20 admission fee 2. Option 2 a. Set up 4-person teams b. Each team pledges $50 per team ($12.50 per person) 6. NABJ Chapter Audit due Dec. 1 7. Diversity Census/ Brown Bag Lunches a. Sheeka opened up the topic of diversity in the newsrooms, or the lack thereof. b. Sheeka, Nicole and Kerry discussed the poor effort by management to recruit black talent in various positions. c. Kerry is the first male black anchor in the history of Fox 8s morning show. d. Nicole mentioned brown bag lunches she participated in while at the Nashville station. Each month, a speaker related to a hot topic in the community would talk with journalists. The lunches promoted diversity. e. SUGGESTION: TABJ should host a public forum about diversity in newsrooms, get area media outlets to complete a census and involve black sororities, fraternities or other black organizations.
