CITY UNDER 9s 3-0 YEWDALE PEGASUS

It was an early start for these two teams with kick-off at 9.30 on a horrible drizzly
morning at the Sheepmount. City forced most of the early pressure and won numerous
corners, without being able to find the back of the net. After 15 minutes, the Yewdale
keeper made two fine saves in quick succession to prevent City scoring.

Davidson was very close to giving his side the lead, but his shot went just wide. City’s
keeper Bell had been largely a spectator for most of the first half, but he did have to
react when Yewdale won a corner, and he kicked the ball clear.

Half-time arrived with no goals scored and the second half began with City again on
the attack. Graham shot just too high and a great run from Halliburton forced the
Yewdale keeper to save. The pressure was getting stronger as Davidson’s shot
bounced back off the post. Twelve minutes into the second half, Boundy eventually
put his side ahead as his shot squeezed under the unlucky keeper.

Boundy almost added a second but the keeper managed to save but it was not long
before another goal did arrive. A cross from the City right was steered home neatly by
Davidson. The third goal, to complete City’s win, was a fine shot from outside the
penalty box by man-of-the-match Davidson.

Both teams competed in good spirits in unpleasant conditions, and credit is due to all
the players.

CITY- Bell, Graham, Halliburton, Davidson, Boundy, Renucci, Beck, Dixon, Ostle,
Emmerson.
