Two teens injured in single-vehicle collision

The Howard County police traffic enforcement section is investigating a single-vehicle collision in which two teens were injured overnight in Lisbon. At approximately 10:18 p.m. on Wednesday, the driver of a 2011 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Frederick Road at Bahner Court. The vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a telephone pole, rotated, struck a tree and overturned. The juvenile driver, a 17-year-old male from Sykesville, was transported to the University of Maryland, Shock Trauma Center, in serious condition. His name is being withheld due to the possibility of pending charges. The front seat passenger, Jessie Michael Byrd, 16, also of Sykesville, was transported to Shock Trauma, where he is listed in serious condition. Preliminary investigation revealed that speed and wet roadways were factors in this serious collision. The collision is being investigated by PFC Mark Reid. ###
