FATAL VEHICLE CRASH

Grand Rapids Police responded to a two vehicle crash at 28th St and Englewood at
approximately 2047hrs on Thursday May 26, 2011 with one vehicle flipped over onto it's roof.
A 1997 Jeep Cherokee had been in the process of turning left into the Grand Central Strip Mall
from east bound 28th St when it was broadsided by a westbound 2003 Ford F250 Pick up
pulling a trailer with landscape equipment.
Both vehicles left the roadway with the Jeep rolling over. The passenger in the Jeep, a 22 yr
old Grand Rapids man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 21 year old Grand
Rapids man was transported to Butterworth Hospital where he was treated and released.
The driver of the pick up, a 21 year old Grand Rapids man was not injured while the
passenger, a 19 year old Walker man was also taken to Butterworth Hospital where he was
also treated and released.
The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of the next of
kin.
Alcohol is not a factor in this crash and investigators are working to determine the status of
the signal and right of way. Any witnesses that have not yet spoken to Investigators are asked
