First Grade News

What were learning
Our Bible stories for this week are Samsons Sin and Death and Ruths Faith. We will be reading June and the Mules and Slim, Luke, and the Mules in our basal reading books. We are focusing on the long u sound and ar words. Math will include counting by 100s, sums of 10, and estimating length. In Language we are focusing on pronouns and proofreading. We are starting a unit on Kickball for P.E!

Assignments
Here are some ways to challenge your child: Math Make a graph for you and your family. Keep track of numbers you hear or see that are multiples of ten (ending in a zero). For each number you receive a point. Record results on your graph by using tally marks. At the end of the week determine the winner! Reading Write your own tall tale; stretch the truth a little. Christ Light Make a comic book about the story of Samson. Monday, March 5: Read Christ Light Samsons Sin and Death Read June and the Mules Tuesday, March 6: Memory Work: Luke 18:13 Read Slim, Luke, and the Mules Math Facts Wednesday, March 7: None (Lenten Services) Thursday, March 8: Read Christ Light Ruths Faith Spelling Test (car, card, hard, jar, bar, star, far, yard Bonus: start, carry)

Important Notes

Grades 1-2 sing March 14th at the 7:00 p.m. Lenten service. Lenten services are this Wednesday again at 5 and 7 p.m. with a soup supper at 5:30. Book orders are due March 23rd. Thanks for all the school spirit! We had a great week! Watch for information coming home about Box Tops. Monday and Tuesday this week, our WASC accreditation committee will be on campus for various observations and meetings.
