Conduct a 21st Century Skills Self-Assessment and Make a Wordle

Grade Level: 5-6th grade Subject: Social Studies/21st Century Skills Prepared by: Ron Gardiner Overview and Purpose: After viewing and discussing 21st Century Learning Skills, students will conduct a self-assessment of the 21st Century Soft Skills they possess in order to set goals for themselves. Information:

1. Discuss and record student ideas of what it takes to be a 21st Century Learner. 2. Use Prezi at 21st Century Learnerto introduce 21st Century Skills and procedures for
completing the survey. 3. Students submit the finished Wordle along with the reflection paragraph via Dropbox.

Verification: Steps to check for student understanding

1. After students complete the survey, they use mental math to calculate their total

score.

2. Conduct a class discussion about their feelings about the survey results. 3. Students write a paragraph to reflect of what they learned from the survey.
Activity: Wordle Students use the fifteen key words/phrases from the survey to create a Wordle that reflects their results. See Wordle Activity Fact Sheet for specific directions.
