This site is a landslide (reactivated) on a bridge at 50+000. Highly fractured sandstone and interbeds of shale are exposed on the steeper sections of the slope and colluvial boulder gravel covers the remainder of the slope. On the upper the slope show evidence of failure athough remain well vegetated.Overall the slope is about 220 m long, 170 m at the base (road level) with an elevation difference road to top of slide of 120 m. There is a distinct backscarp at the crareas that have not failed and include grasses, shrubs and trees. The slope above the road extends about 400 m to the crest of a ridge with an elevation difference of 225 m from road to top of slope. A number ofresidential buildings are located at the top of this slope. The problems here are a result of the undercutting ofexposing highly fractured rock. The failed slopes are subject to erosion and occasional traffic on the road. In one section there is a 5 m high face exposing weakly bound blocks of strong sandstone with interbeds of weak shale

RISK The risk of the site has been classified as HIGH probability of damage or injury or death. high and very steep slope immediately before the proposed new crown of the landslide Vegetation remains on esidential a pre-existing landslide and the excavation of a sloperockfall and debris slide which creates a hazard forwhich create a significant rockfall hazard.
