470 Chestnut Ridge Road, Second Floor Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677 Dear Matthew Ancora, I was first introduced to Kiewit when I attended a career fair last year at my school where I spoke to a current employee, Chris Veter, about the great opportunities Kiewit has to offer. Although I did not qualify for an internship with Kiewit, I spent the summer learning and experiencing the construction industry elsewhere. Following graduation in the spring, I hope to put my newly acquired skills and knowledge to use in a full-time position within the construction industry. Chris contacted me about an estimating position that has opened up in Kiewit and I feel this would be a good opportunity for me. My work experience over the passed year has equipped me with the skills I feel that will help me to be a good addition to the Kiewit team. I spent last summer interning with a company called Sordoni Construction Co., a construction management firm based out of North Jersey. I was immediately assigned to a job in Manhattan, NY, the building of a 15-story residential apartment building. My hands-on duties were completed both in the office and on the job site. More specifically, in the office my responsibilities were focused on, but not limited to, the specific trades of carpentry, painting, stone and tile floor, kitchen appliances, and plumbing fixtures. My daily tasks varied from updating and drafting contracts, to compiling bid submissions and organizing meetings for multiple subcontractors. I even implemented a new system to track and record material and submittal deliveries. My time out of the office was spent on the job site completing daily manpower reports and recording daily progress. With another year of school completed and a full summer of experience I feel confident in my qualifications for a position at Kiewit.
