To Whom I t May Concern; I t was my pleasure to know and work with Jenny lawyer at Yorktown Middle School, York County School Division, Yorktown, Virginia. I was the Special Education Department Chairperson, and Jenny was a substitute in our building. She worked with regular education teachers, as well as special education teachers as a substitute in classrooms. She was very professional, and caring for the students, making sure they were successful in academic and social performance. When i t was apparent that I would be needing surgery, I immediately asked Jenny to assume the role of permanent substitute for me. I could think of no one else that I would trust with my students, since I was never absent. I knew Jenny would treat them with respect, and continue to maintain the goals I had put in place for those special needs students. I also knew she had a positive relationship with the teachers. This was essential since the special needs students were working in an inclusion setting, and i t was so important to make sure the modifications and accommodations of the Individual Education Plans were followed. Jenny did an outstanding job as my substitute. She followed my lesson plans, as well as the Individual Education Plans. The teachers enjoyed working with her, as she was truly committed to helping the students. Jenny continued to communicate with me during this six week period. She was able to share success stories, and to ask f o r assistance in situations that she wanted to improve. She attended team meetirejs, faculty meetings, and worked with individual students as needed. I felt very comfortable that my students were continuing to learn and improve their study skills. J enny would be an asset to any school staff. She is professional, committed to helping others, and willing t o work hard t o make sure students become successful citizens in their community.
