Since 2005, the annual Roof Dog Run has been hosted by Christ Church Plano as a fun family event, which raises funds to benefit orphaned children in Peru. Over 700 people and almost 100 dogs participated in 2011. Every year, we have seen participation increase in the Roof Dog Run. To date, over $178,000 has been raised for orphaned children in Peru through the Roof Dog Run. Going the Distance Proceeds from the event have been used to construct a new orphanage in Peru for the Casa Hogar Childrens Home. This orphanage houses children ranging in age from 3 to 18. Besides providing for the physical structure, proceeds also go towards food, shelter, clothing, and other daily necessities for these beautiful kids. We are committed to going the distance with these kids. So, we are beginning to purpose funds from this event to provide for their education. This life-changing opportunity allows the kids to attend university or be trained for a vocation. Why Roof Dog Run? If you walk through the streets of Peru, immediately you notice that you are being watched. It is common for dogs to live on the rooftops of their owners homes serving as protectors over the household. Inspired by mans best friend, missionaries from Christ Church Plano adopted the name for themselves as a way to model the same type of love and protection for these orphaned children in Peru. The Roof Dogs from Christ Church Plano started the Roof Dog Run as our annual fundraiser for the childrens home we work with in Peru.
