The War Parrot was developed over the course of many centuries. Their purpose is
to serve as the mouthpiece for military leaders who either cannot or will not speak. They
are trained, initially, to speak no more than ten phrases (5 peaceful and five aggressive).
As their keeper advances in level, so do the War Parrots learn more phrases. The War
parrot does not understand the phrase so much as it knows which one to say based upon
the gestures or movements of their master.
War Parrots learn 2 new phrases per level of the master after they are purchased,
as their master gains levels. One phrase is peaceful (i.e. “we come in peace”, “surrender
and we will spare your lives”) and one is aggressive (DM's option) (i.e. “let's kill all of
the old people!”). Many of the more aggressive phrases are learned quite by accident as
the War Parrots listen to their trainers engage in after-battle talk, which is often quite
colorful among the soldiery.
The War Parrot will say whatever their master wants so long as their master is able
to make an Animal Handling check (DC 15) for each phrase. If the handler fails the
check, then the War Parrot will blurt out a random phrase it has learned.
War Parrots look just like their counterparts in the jungle. They are never found in
the wild. It takes about 1 year to train a War Parrot and they cost approximately 200 GP.

Combat: A War Parrot will normally bite at an opponent, but if it is good and mad,
it will also use its very long claws, normally going for the eyes.
