WORKING PRINCIPLE OF A DC MOTOR

When a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field it experiences a force Direction of force is given by Flemings left hand rule Fore Finger Field Centre finger Current ThuMb Motion of conductor

WORKING PRINCIPLE OF A DC MOTOR

Consider a single conductor carrying current in the downward direction placed at the centre of the main magnetic field. Click to edit Master subtitle style Interaction between the main field flux and the flux produced by conductor causes re-distribution of flux lines.

The concentration of flux on one end(here bottom end) pushes the conductor in the opposite direction.

WORKING PRINCIPLE OF A DC MOTOR

Current that flows through the segments of the loop are equal and opposite to each other. The segment on one side pushes towards the left while the segment on the other side pushes downward. Since the loop is designed to pivot on its axis, the combined forces 7/7/12 create a twisted action called torque

RECALL AND ANSWER

1.

What is the name of the process related to reversing the direction of current flow through the current carrying coil?

2. Say true or false: When armature loop is in neutral plane, commutation occurs at the same time. 3. The torque of the motor is at its minimum strength when the motors loop is 1. Inside the main field 2. In the neutral plane
