Lesson Plan in Math Grade VI

Learning Objectives: Cognitive: Visualize the different spatial figures. Psychomotor: Draw different spatial figures. Affective: Appreciate the various spatial figures in the environment. Learning Content: Skill: Visualising Spatial Figures Reference: BEC PELC III. A.1.1 Materials: different spatial figures, paper robot of plane figures, pictures of ball, globe, test tube, tent and dice, activity sheet, blank manila paper for the activity, illustration board, robot for presentation, drawing of different objects found in the environment, flashcards for individual activity. Value: Appreciation of various spatial figures in the environment. Learning Experiences: A. Preparatory Activities 1. Mental Computation: Solving for Perimeter and Area Game 1 a) Divide the class into 5 groups. ( per column) b) Choose 2 students to be the scorer to write the scores to the board. c) Teacher provides an illustration board for each group. d) Teacher flashes a picture of a plane figure with given measurement of sides. 1. 5 cm

The write their answer on the illustration board provided for each group. f) The first to give the correct answers (with proper labels) and raises his/her board first gets 2 points. g) Continue the game until everyone in the column has participated. h) The group with the most number of points wins.

2. Review Review about plane figures using the paper robot. Teacher: What plane figures can you see in the parts of the paper robot?

Expected answers: We can see the plane figures like square, rectangle, triangle, and circle. 3. Motivation: Play the Concentration Game. a) Teacher prepares 12 cards consecutively numbered. At the back of each number card are the following: b) 1. Cube 2. 3. Rectangular prism

c) Teacher divides the class into 3 groups. d) A student from a group chooses 2 numbers, say 1 and 9. e) Teacher opens the number cards and finds out if the drawing and word match. If they match, another student from the same group chooses another pair of numbers and so on.

If the contents of the numbers dont match, the teacher flips the cards again to show the numbers (not the word or drawing). Then a player from another group chooses the next pair of numbers, and so on. g) The group with the most number of correctly matched pairs wins. B. Developmental Activities 1. Presentation a. 2) Teacher guide the pupils that space figures have three-dimensions; the base, surface, and apex/ vertex. 3) Teacher asks what is common among all the spatial figures. (Spatial figures are in common in bases, vertices and faces) 4) Present a robot whose parts are made up of spatial figures.

4. Generalization Teacher: What are the different spatial figures? Pupil: The different spatial figures are: cube, pyramid, prism, cylinder, cone, and sphere. Teacher: What are their common characteristics? Pupil: All of them are three-dimensional figures. They are common in vertices, bases and faces. Teacher: Give examples of real life objects that represent each spatial figure? Example: Pupil: Box- cube Ice cream cone- cone Can- cylinder Birthday hat- cone Ball- sphere C. Application 1) Treasure Hunting a) Teacher posted the names of the different space figures and the different real objects under the chairs of the pupils. b) They are going to look for names of space figures and the picture of the real object. c) Match the treasures that correspond to each other. Ex..: 1. Sun --Sphere and cone

Pupil: We should give value and appreciate the spatial figures found in the environment. IV. Evaluation 1. Teacher divides the class into 4 groups by counting off 1 to 4. 2. Let each group choose a group leader, secretary and the reporter. 3. The leader will be the one to lead the group to answer the questions. The secretary will write the answer in a manila paper provided by the teacher. The reporter will be the one to present their works in front of their classmates. 4. The teacher gives these instructions. Instruction: Draw an object found in the environment using the following spatial figures. Label the parts with spatial figures represented. Write your answers in a manila paper provided for each group. Refer your drawings to the following spatial figures:
