Agenda for Hospital Assessment Team Training (Draft)

Blended Learning Program for Nonstructural and Structural Assessors Quirino Memorial Medical Hospital (former Labor Hospital) , Quezon City December 8, 2012 (Sat.), 8:30 3:45 P.M. Background As part of the Capacity Assessment of Level 3 and Level 4 Hospitals in Luzon project of the Department of Health, the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI) is tasked to create and train multi-disciplinary teams that will conduct the actual assessment. This session is the second part of the distance learning program for non-structural (architects) and structural (civil/structural) assessors. Objectives This one-day face-to-face training session aims to develop the capacity of assessment teams to evaluate the non-structural and structural elements of hospitals using the indicators and corresponding sub-indicators listed in the Safe Hospitals Assessment Tool as reviewed by the EMI. By the end of the training workshop, the participants shall have: (1) gained the skills and knowledge to use the assessment tool for structural assessment; (2) been enabled to conduct the inspection process with the aid of the Field Operations Manual, (3) been familiarized with the assessment reporting system for project monitoring; and (4) enabled to rate the main indicators to synthesize findings. The last item is an integral part of the analysis to contribute in formulating DOH policies and priorities with respect to managing, operating and maintaining hospitals.
