Fighting, Fighting to Live! The author of Hatchet is Gary Paulsen.

He is a three time Newbery Honor Author and received a Newbery award for this book. Hatchet is a survival adventure book. It is about a 13 year old boy named Brian Robeson. His parents were divorced and his dad didnt know why his wife wanted a divorce. This is one of the reasons Brian was going to see his dad in Canada. Brians story shows that he was a fighter; he fought for what he wanted and that was to live! In the beginning of the story, Brian was a passenger in the Cessna 406 Bush Plane with the pilot, Jake. During flight, Jake had a heart attack and Brian was left to fly the plane. After Jake had his heart attack, Brian had to make a decision to keep flying or to land immediately. He made the decision to keep flying and land when the plane was out of gas completely. Brian made a plan to land on a lake and then jump out of the plane and swim to shore instead of landing in the trees because he would probably die that way. Somehow he landed and survived the crash! After he landed, Brian found some turtle eggs on the beach. Brian found 17 snapping turtle eggs and decided there must be meat in them, so he ate them. When he first found the turtle eggs he ate 6 of them, but, after that, he realized he can eat 1 a day and survive for at least 11 days. Therefore, Brian buried the turtle eggs so he could keep them for a while. He was trying to stay alive for as long as he could and the turtle eggs were another way he could survive for a little longer.

Later in the story, Brian was found. When Brian went through the survival pack, he found a transmitter and put it on. Because he thought it didnt work, he threw it in a pile with the other things he was a little iffy about. After the transmitter had been on, and in the pile for some time,

Brian heard something outside the cave he was living in, he got curious and went outside. He saw a pilot looking for something, and it turned out he was looking for Brian. The pilot recognized him and asked Brian if he was the boy they had stopped looking for almost 2 months ago. His reply was, My name is Brian Robeson, and, Would you like something to eat? Brian was so shocked he had been found.

Brians story shows that he was a fighter; he fought for what he wanted and that was to live! He did everything from landing the plane to eating raw turtle eggs to finally getting rescued. To survive, Brian fought hard! Im all I got. I got to do something. For the first time since the crash I might be getting a handle on things.
