Position Description

Position Information: Position Title: Sr. Drilling Engineer Reports To: Section Head Drilling Engineering. Section: Drilling Engineering Department: Operations Division: E&P 1. Basic Function and Scope: Acts as the companys technical representative and its accountable for the technical planning and monitoring of the drilling programs. Plan, and perform all aspects of drilling engineering works for PDOCs exploration, development, and wire line activities. Initiates and issues well programs, and analyzes and assesses discrepancies against the program recommending appropriate actions as necessary. Provides continuous engineering advice to the overall operations and to field Drilling Team to ensure that quality, safety standards and procedures are met. Location: Khartoum (Office).

2. Major Tasks and Responsibilities: Operations: Prepares PDOCs standard drilling programs and procedures for critical operations and dangerous well situations in coordination with concerned services and drilling engineers. Monitors and follows-up the daily drilling operation to verify critical operations and directional drilling data. Analyzes problems occurring in equipment and drilling operations and provides technical advice to avoid such occurrence in the future and prepares reports and studies on those problems encountered Maintain up to date statistics and issues monthly routine reports such as rig activity report, etc; to provide accurate and timely information to the department. Evaluate and review PDOCs tender recommendations for the procurement of drilling and completion consumables to protect Companys interests. Prepare, monitor and updates drilling related manuals in line with Company policies and changes. Communicates and disseminates the changes and updated version effectively to field personnel. Communicates regularly with work sites and seeks recommendations to drilling activities improvement and initiates modifications with Drilling Contractor. Keeps abreast with latest technology and disseminates the information to every level of drilling staff. Analyzes well bore stability problems and introduces a cost effective of the mud system to prevent down hole and mud, i.e. well bore cleaning, tight hole, etc. Performs other similar or related duties such as reviewing standard instructions to select the most appropriate and economical to PDOC.

Reporting: Ensure the quality of and accuracy of all drilling reports before distribution. Provide stewardship reporting on potential improvement and methods for initiating change on future projects. HSE: Assist the drilling superintendent to supervise the HSE system. Acts as a member of the emergency response group, supporting the drilling superintendent in the event of the emergency response situation. Observe all company health, safety and environmental instructions, act in a safe manner and avoid unnecessary risks to themselves and others. Immediately report any unsafe conditions or activities, dangerous occurrences or injuries in the workplace. Not interfere with, remove, displace or make ineffective any safeguard, safety device, equipment or appliance provided for health, safety and environmental purposes except for during and approved maintenance or repair procedure. 3. Work Contacts: Frequent contacts at own or slightly higher level in Division to discuss drilling procedures and need and exchange information. 4. Independence of Operations Determines work methods from several alternatives within professional standards and drilling procedures. Work assignments are subject to review by section head engineering. 5. Supervisory Responsibility Gives work direction to the drilling engineers. 6. Physical Efforts Minimal
7. Work Environment:

Normal air-conditioned environment. Occasional exposure to prevailing weather conditions, dirt, noise when visiting rigs. B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering. 6-8 years of diversified petroleum industry experience in drilling, completion and work over activities including 2-3 years well site experience. Very good knowledge of English. Good knowledge of computer skills and relevant software.
