UNIFORM POLICY
REVIEWED 2007 DUE FOR REVIEW 2011

RATIONALE:
Our uniform is a sign of our community. It has been chosen by the community and all students are expected to support it.

SCHOOL PRACTICES: School Uniform:

Children are expected to be attired in correct, complete school uniform at all times. Summer uniform is worn in Terms One and Four; winter uniform in Terms Two and Three. Sports uniform is to be worn on sport/PE days and usually on excursions (see excursion note). School hats are required for use everyday (we have a No Hat, No Play policy during recess and lunchtimes and school hats are also required for outdoor activities such as sport/PE). Non-uniform hats are not acceptable as a replacement hat. All uniform should be carefully labelled with the childs name in a permanent way so that lost items can be identified. Temporary reasons for non-uniform clothing must be explained with a written note to the class teacher/principal and rectified as soon as possible.

Hair:
For health reasons, children with hair that is collar length or longer are required to have hair tied back off the face. Hair ribbons, head bands, elastics and hair clips must be in school colours (blue or yellow) Students are not permitted to have outlandish hair styles by extreme cutting or colouring. Families need to check hair at least weekly for nit infestations. All eggs must be removed after nit treatment as they will eventually hatch and reinfest hair.

Jewellery:
For safety reasons and protection of property, children are not permitted to wear jewellery to school. At the owners risk, the following exceptions are made; 1 pair of sleepers of studs (girls only) 1 religious medal or crucifix worn under clothing a watch

UNIFORM INFRINGEMENT PROCESSES:

If children are not wearing the correct uniform (including hair and jewellery), the following process will be followed; Class teachers will speak to the student about it, reinforcing the expectation that correct uniform will be worn and that a note of explanation is required from a parent/caregiver if uniform is not worn correctly on any particular occasion. If the situation continues, or the student has repeated occasions of not wearing the correct uniform, teachers will send home a Uniform Policy Reminder Note. If the situation continues, or the student has repeated occasions of not wearing the correct uniform, teachers will send the student to the administration office to meet with a member of the leadership team.
