Volunteer Opportunities:

Role: Bus Driver - Solas Project What's Involved? We are looking for someone to transport children by mini-bus between various activities. Volunteer must hold a clean D driving licence (it is a 25-seater bus). One of our main activities is an after school programme which caters for 30 children (aged 7-12 years). Where: 40 Marrowbone Lane, Dublin 8 When: Minimum commitment would be one afternoon a week. Particularly between 2-3pm and 5-6pm. There would also be other trips on an ad hoc basis. Role: Smile Ambassador - Operation Smile Ireland What's Involved? Are you an enthusiastic self-starter looking to volunteer for a good cause? Look no further! Operation Smile Ireland is recruiting Smile Leaders and Smile Ambassadors to raise awareness of our work to make Operation Smile Ireland a household name. This role would suit an independent, outgoing, energetic and committed individual. Presentation and technological skills are an advantage, but not required. Where: This is a self-directed role in the vole volunteers own community Role: Summer Volunteer - Sunshine Fund What's Involved? Every summer, our team of volunteers provides holidays to over 1,200 children. A week in Sunshine House is extremely rewarding. Waving goodbye to the children as they return home can be sad, but leaves you with a sense of satisfaction. You will see shy, timid young people open up as the week progresses and see aggressive, boisterous children soften, mellow and relax. When/where: The role is a one week residential programme (from May to August) at our holiday camp in Balbriggan Role: Community Connector WALK What's Involved? WALK aims to support people with intellectual disabilities to live a life of their choosing. Community Connectors enable people to become involved in their local communities through activities and relationships at first getting out for a tea/coffee or walk and then through an activity in which you are mutually interested in and, which will enable friendship and further develop their social and life skills. Where: We need volunteers in these areas: Walkinstown, Orwell, Terenue, Inchicore, Kingswood, Tallaght. Role: Event Co-ordinator Dublin Cycling Campaign What's Involved? We are looking for volunteers to help out at a number of upcoming events. We need people to help organise events and also to support these events on the day. You will be part of a team and will get support from experienced volunteers. Role: Volunteer helpers for monthly beach cleanup - Bull Island Action Group What's Involved? Bull Island Action Group has been organising cleanups by volunteers on a monthly basis for the past several years. If you are concerned about the environment and want to do something positive about it, join us in physically picking up rubbish/litter on Bull Island.
