The County Supervisors approved 4 laptops and a 3% increase for Sac County libraries for FY 14-15. There will be a one-stop summer registration night sign up for summer reading on April 29 th . Helen Brown will again do book talks for the Friends of the Librarys annual Dessert Tea on May 5 th at 7:00 p.m. The April 10 th Money Smart Kids program needs adults and kids to participate so spread the word. There was a discussion of library staff selling handmade cards at the circulation desk for the Friends of the Library. Angie made a motion to approve this request. Gwen seconded the motion. Motion carried. Cathie attended the best early literacy workshop at our library this month. Brandie thanked the board for allowing her to teach public library management classes for the State. The library community survey will be stuffed in city bills in April and due by the end of May. Randy made a motion to approve this survey schedule. Nancy seconded. Motion carried. Brandie discussed Sparki the Robot as the mascot for the summer reading program. There will be lots of programs including robots, robotics and much more. Community businesses raised $1,075.00 toward that program which should last two summers. Chamber Coffee is scheduled at the library on April 17 th at 9:30 a.m. for National Library Week. Chasing 4 Life will also be here this month to make people aware of severe weather preparation.
