I.INTRODUCTION
A. Purpose
The study emphasizes on the possible benefits of reading to the child and its
impact to the respondent in general. Likewise, this analytical paper aims to assess the
strength and weakness of the learner in the area of reading and comprehension.
B. Respondent
My respondent name is John loyd Zonio, a grade 6 learner. He is studying at
Kalibo Elementary School. His parents are George Zonio and Luzviminda Zonio.They are
7 siblings. John Loyd is the 6th among the 7 siblings. His hobby is playing basketball.
II. METHOD(S)
A. San Diego Quick Assessment Test. This is effective way to informally test the
learners reading ability.
B. Slosson Oral Reading Test. This is to estimate the target words recognition level
for a learner.
C. Wide Range Achievement Test. This is to measure the individual ability to read
words.
III. PROBLEM(S) OBSERVED
A. San Diego Quick Assessment Test(SDQA)
These are the words that he cannot recognize like, splendid, grim escaped,
scantly. He lacks concentration and he doesnt want to read.
B. Slosson Oral Reading Test(SORT)
The respondent cannot pronounce the words correctly such as, cushion, gracious,
applause, interfere, obedient. He lacks of word recognition skill.

C. Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT)
The respondent uses lips reading and he is reading rapidly without understanding.
He has poor comprehension.
IV. ANALYS(E)S
A. San Diego Quick Assessment Test(SDQA)
The respondent cannot recognize the words maybe because he lacks skills in
words recognition technique and maybe he is distracted by other thing in his mind.
B. Slosson Oral Reading Test(SORT)
The respondent cannot pronounce the words maybe because he lack motivation
and self-confident.
C. Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT)
The respondent is shy and lack of self-confident. His attention is easily distracted.
When he reads he puts his finger in his mouth so he cannot read very well.
V. RECOMMENDATION(S)

For the learner:
1. Improve word-recognition techniques by reading books and other reading
materials.
2. Build a high self-confidence towards in reading and make reading a habit.
3. Avoid mannerisms like putting finger on mouth when reading.

For the learners teachers:
1. Build confidence by showing warmth for learner.

2. Begin by using easier reading material.
3. Use visual aids more attractive.
For the learners parents:
1. Guide the learner and advice him to read more educational books.
2. Encourage the learner to improve self-confidence in reading.
3. Guide the learners to avoid unpleasant mannerisms.
