Organising Committee
Present: Paul Jones (Acting chair), Bianca Kay, Adam Waddingham and David Jones
2. Matters arising
Society e-letter
Adam raised the committee's attention to the newly published society e-letter. Bianca
raised concerns that the newsletter had been sent by Hope's Department of Politics and
History. Adam informed the committee he'd issued the e-letter, having wrote and
edited it independently of staff involvement. A future newsletter was APPROVED in
principle for December publication.
Hoodies
Paul raised the issue of hoodies. This had been raised at a previous committee meeting.
Adam informed the committee that he had spoken to Angela Coleman and discussion
various means of production. Paul added that he'd undertaken some initial enquiries
into the cost etc. The committee decided to CONSULT FURTHER.
Posters
Adam noted that new posters would be displayed across campus. These posters were
printed through the department and it was noted that Guy Tourlamain and Nick Rees
had been particularly helpful. Two versions shall be displayed. The first, a generic
poster advertises the society in general. The second, advertises the up-coming social
night.
Politics representation
Adam raised the issue of the need to inform Politics students. Bianca informed the
committee that she and Leanne had spoken to second year students. Adam informed the
committee that he'd speak with Michael Holmes/ Rob Busby and arrange an
opportunity to speak with Level C and I students. It was APPROVED to petition Level
C and I classes.
Committee positions
Adam noted that the committee had not adopted the titles which had been appointed at
the first meetings. Following discussions it was decided that titles should not be
adopted. Use of titles was REJECTED. Adam then raised the issue of future elections
for the committee, following further discussion it was decided to CONSULT
FURTHER but set provisional election dates for April 2010. Until then the Organising
Committee shall continue to run day-to-day affairs of the society.
