MNOA, Wylie &

The Wild West

Wylie & the Wild

West will be playing at
the Northeast Montana
Fairgrounds following the
Ranch Rodeo on Saturday,
August 2nd at 7:00.
General admission is
$25. Kids 12 and under are
free with a ticket holder.
This is a fund-raiser to
aid in the fight against
drugs; a good portion of
the proceeds will be used
locally.
No kidding! On April Fools Day 2008, Wylie appeared on Late Night with Conan
OBrien promoting his book, How to Yodel: Lessons to Tickle Your Tonsils. Conan
joined Wylie in a rockin rendition of the bands top-selling iTunes title Yodel Boogie.
The shows official blog described the 6-minute chapter as the highlight of the day.
Wylie gave Conan high marks for bravery in accepting the challenge of learning to
yodel in front of 2.5 million viewers, and for his abilities in carrying it off successfully.
We only had about five minutes to rehearse earlier in the day. Conan was a superb
host, especially off camera, Wylie said. His crew was first class through and through.

Yahoo-oo!

continued from front

ranching family on the empty sprawl

of Northern Montana. He celebrates
his unique rural American perspective
as a prolific singer/songwriter with 16
albums to his credit.
As Cowboys and Indians magazine
puts it, Wylie has established himself
as the first giant of the new pantheon
that will inherit, preserve, and enhance
the Western music tradition from
such current reigning luminaries
as Don Edwards, Waddie Mitchell,
Red Steagall, Ian Tyson and Michael
Martin Murphey. He proves himself a
distinctive and affecting singer as well
as a highly adept songwriter, with one
boot firmly in the stirrup of tradition
and the other in the stirrup of respectful
innovation, gently spurring cowboy
and Western music toward its future.
If you were a part of the millions
of viewers who watched the 2013

Superbowl commercial God made a

Farmer youll see Wylie with his hard
working family doing what they do
every day to keep food on Americas
tables. This ancient way of life remains
the backbone of his art.
Whether playing for a crowd of
50 or 5,000, Wylies goal is always the
same: To win a crowd with good music
and make em feel like they got their
moneys worth.
Looking back over two decades
with The Wild West, he says, My idea
about playing live music has pretty
much been the same since I started
playing in high school dance bands
in the mid-70s: be an entertainer. It
all started as I watched Chuck Berry
on T.V. one night as he duck-walked,
strutted, kicked, and grooved across
the stage while never missing a beat.
Now that was entertainment!

About MNOA

MNOA
is
an
association
that
was
formed for all levels and
areas of law enforcement.
This includes members
from street patrol, criminal
investigations, corrections,
prosecutors, and highway
patrol, as well as federal law
enforcement agents from
all branches. Established
in 1995, the MNOA has
subsequently grown in
size to include over 125
members from throughout
Montana.
This
is
not
an
organization devoted solely
to law enforcement officers
who are full-time narcotics
investigators;
everyone
in law enforcement will
become
involved
in
narcotics investigations at
some point. Officers are
aware that any traffic stop
could potentially lead to a
drug investigation. Because
illegal drug use and sales
have become such an
omnipresent part of life
today, all law enforcement
officers must possess some
degree of expertise in this
area.

Wolf Stamp Hearing Set for August 14

Montana Fish, Wildlife
& Parks will conduct
hearings on Aug. 14 at several
locations on proposed new
rules to establish a voluntary
wolf management stamp for
anyone to make a donation to
Montanas wolf management
program.
The proposed rules
would direct FWP to make
available for sale a $20 wolf
stamp and would define
how the voluntary donations
would be allocated to wolf
management activities.
The hearings are set
for 6 p.m. on Aug. 14.
One of these hearings will
be in Glasgows Region 6
headquarters.
Under the new rules,
money received from the
sale of wolf management
stamps would be considered

a donation and must first

be used to pay for the cost
of administering the stamp
program. The remainder
would be required to be
equally
distributed
for
livestock loss reduction
program
grants,
wolf
monitoring, habitat projects,
scientific research, public
education and outreach, and
law enforcement.
