The Fools Fortune

It has been a year since the last incident occurs in Inaba. The last time was when the group
from Port Island came to retrieve the lost good. Things has been quiet in Inaba since the last
trouble. Quieter situation means less problem, and less problem means less case, and less case
means more free time for Naoto. Shirogane Naoto, distinguished detective, was currently sitting
alone on the riverbank. Most of her friends was currently busy with assignment, since tomorrows
the deadline, and her upperclassman was doing a field trip to one of the river near Inaba. In days
like this, Naoto would usually go to the TV World, solve some minor case, read book, and, when Yu
was still around, spend time with him. Now that the TV Worlds in peace, no minor case to solve,
Naoto ran out of things that could alleviate her boredom.
Its almost a year since Yu confessed to Naoto, and tomorrows their one year anniversary.
They have been contacting each other through email, voicemail, phone call, sometimes even video
cam, but video cam cost quite a lot, especially since Inabas pretty isolated, but Yu never
mentioned anything about their anniversary. Long distance never really cut it, huh Naoto
mumbled, as she rest her head on her hand. Yu still actively keep in touch with herself, but he did
not mention anything about coming to Inaba. I wonder if he forgot Naoto mumbled again.
Naoto then stared at her watch, the watch that she modified, the matching watch that she gave to
Yu. The screen thats supposed to say the distance between each watch was now showing dashes,
meaning that the other pair was out of reach. Naoto kept staring at the screen, hoping that
suddenly the screen would show some numbers. Well it wont change no matter how I stare
Naoto sighed, and got up. She then looked up to the sky. I wonder how you are doing right now
Naoto mumbled, before leaving the riverbank.
Why did you do that?!? You could get seriously hurt!! Because I love you Naoto
Naoto abruptly woke up. Just a dream.......I felt so real though Naoto mumbled,
blushing a little. She didnt dream about Yu often, so its something nice for a change. Then again,
dreaming about him just made herself miss him more. After trying her hardest to remember the
feeling when both of them are together, also blushing even more, Naoto decided to get a drink,
since shes quite parched. She then looked at the clock. Oh wow, its still 2 in the morning
Naoto said. Well tomorrows Sunday she added, as she got up from her bed, and went
towards the kitchen for a drink. On the way to the kitchen, Naoto saw the seven tools of detective,
the tools she made when she was small, as well as the tools that brought Naoto and Yu closer. The
Badge, the Notebook, the Pen, the Knife, the Ruler, and the Pencil Sharpener, along with the
watch that shes wearing. After that dream, Naoto remembered clearly the whole scene when Yu
confessed to her. Naoto gave a small sigh, before continuing to the kitchen.
The next day, after taking a bath and ate her breakfast, Naoto departed for Junes. The
group from the TV World Case, the Truth Seeker, were gathering at Junes today. They often
gathers at Junes on Sunday, since most of them were free on that day, except Yosuke and Teddie,
who had to work even at weekend. At the shopping district, Naoto could hear someone called
herself. Oy~! Naoto-kun! a voice from afar called out to Naoto. It was Chie, and along herself,
Yukiko, as well as Rise. Seems like shes also on her way to Junes. Oh, ohayou senpai, Kujikawa-
san Naoto greeted back, as she jog towards Chie. Youre on your way to Junes right? We just
picked up Rise, and were on our way to Junes as well. Want to tag along? Chie said. Oh, yeah,
sure Naoto replied. Hmm? Are you not feeling well, Naoto-chan? You doesnt seems energetic
at all Rise said, tilting her head. Uh, what? No, Im fine Naoto replied back. She does seems out
of it. Is something wrong, Naoto-kun? Yukiko asked. Im fine. Its nothing Naoto said again.
Both Rise and Yukiko knew that theres something wrong, but they reluctantly let it go. Well, in
any case, what time is it now? We promised to meet at 1, but I could use some steaks right now,
especially- Chie said, but stopped when her stomach growls. She then blushed a bit, smiling
sheepishly. Naoto then checked her watch, since shes the only one wearing a watch right now. As
she opened the watchs lid, she gasped. The screen that shows the distance between the pair of
watch didnt show dashes, instead it shows 23m, meaning that the other pair is 23m from her
position, and theres only one person who had the other watch. Are you okay Naoto? You look
like you saw a ghost Chie said, breaking Naotos train of thoughts. Naoto quickly close her
watchs lid. O-Oh, i-its nothing. I-Its still 11, by the way. U-Uh, I had s-something to do, s-so
you guys go on ahead Naoto said, as she dashed in the direction opposite of Junes, while keeping
an eye on the watchs screen. Since the number keeps dropping, Naotos on the right track. The
number keeps dropping, dropping, until finally, its down to 3m. Naoto looked around, and found
what shes been looking for at the shrine.
Standing there in front of the fox statue, dressed in a white shirt and black jeans, it was Yu
Narukami. Naoto dropped her jaw when she saw Yu there, since theres no information saying that
hell be coming today. Also, if he was coming today, then the group would know. Long time no
see, Naoto Yu greeted. The shock caused Naoto to lose control over her restrain. She ran towards
Yu, and hugged him, without any warnings. You idiot! You shouldve told me that youre coming
over! Naoto exclaimed as she held her tears of happiness in. It wont be a surprise if I told you
beforehand. Besides, after seeing your reaction, I felt like I did the right thing Yu said. Happy
anniversary to us, Naoto Yu added as she hugged Naoto back. Feeling the warmth that shes
been longing for a year made her unable to hold back her tears. Y-You meanie Naoto said
between her sobs. Sorry for not contacting you. Its our one year anniversary, so I thought it
should went off with a bang, but I guess I got too carried away Yu said, sounding apologetic all
of sudden. I-Its fine Naoto said, wiping her tears, but still clinging to Yu. You sure? You doesnt
seem happy with all that tears Yu said, wiping Naotos tears as well. I-Its fine, this was t-tears
of happiness Naoto said, finally smiling, even though her tears still flows. Thats so like you after
all, senpai. Always so unpredictable Naoto said, as she circled her arms around Yus neck. Yu was
caught off guard with Naotos sudden moves. After all, thats the kind of senpai I fell for. I love
you, senpai Naoto said, with a bright smile. With that, Naoto pulled Yu towards her, and kissed
him.
