Months

July Nov. 2014

Dear Friends and Family,
Well it is that time again. In fact, Im a bit late in getting this one out. Busy
busy busy. We all are so thankful for another five months of life! We have had
lots happen since our last letter. We are hoping to head up to the U.S. in
February with three of our foster kids for three weeks. We are still in great
need of a couple to run our girls home. We have been doing pretty well. We
continue to have the usual struggles of raising teens, pre-teens, kindergartners, prescholars, and babies. Plus the struggles of abandoned and abused children added.
Deborah and I continue to meet after every lunch every day to read the Word, pray, and
reconnect. (best idea ever)

Its our
turn to
travel!

July
Trip to the States We got to take a two week trip to
Deborahs family in WI. We had a great time and got to
visit some churches as well. We got to see a few of the kids
previously adopted from the home.
Chicken pox First our house got it, a little more than
half. Then the other house got it. It went ok, but some of
the kids that came to the states got it as well.
Volcano Climbing Micah took the kids to climb three
volcanoes this summer. The biggest one was over 11,500
feet.

August
Harvest Ministries Two teams from Harvest Ministries came
this year. The first team helped watch the kids while we were in the states and the
second did lots of work around the properties and some ministry to the local town.
Baby Yeni Many of you know Yeni was diagnosed with Meningitis and then
Tuberculosis. She has made a perfect recovery and is doing great. She is still taking
medication for the TB, but will be finished
soon. Thank you all for your prayers and
financial support through this hard time we
had. Her hospital bill of 21,000 dollars has
been paid in full through prayer!

Some more Babies We had two baby goats born and six baby puppies.
A new van God provided the funding for a new van. We are so happy to have some more room when
driving. Thank you to all who have helped with this project!

September
Broken leg Saul broke his leg in multiple places. He is all
healed up now and just got the cast off. (Dec.5th)
A HUGE need We are in desperate need of a couple to
parent the girls home. The current house parents will be leaving in
March. We need a couple to come and help care for sexually
abused girls with or without babies. Please pray about this.
A baby born! Deborah had Peter Job
Reichard on the 25th of September here
in Santiago. The birth went well and we
had a doctor from PA! Peter got a fever at two days old and we had to go to the
hospital in the city. He ended up having an infection. He is doing great now. We
are enjoying him so much and thank God for another blessing!
Help just in time Simeon and Casey came for three months and just left. They
came at a great time. With the new baby born they were able to help a lot.
Thanks so much!

October
New kiddos We accepted four new children this month. Mateo 2 and
Izabela 4, are with Dawn. Luis 5 is with us and Cecilia 15 is in the girls home.
These kids are all siblings of two of the other kids already here.
Some frustrations We had a time of things breaking and going wrong.
(more than normal) The truck had an electrical fire, a number of our
appliances and tools broke, and a tree fell on a line and knocked out our
power for a few days.

November
Mateo Mateo, one of the newer children in Dawns care, has a serious heart
condition. He is in need of surgery right away. We have gone about five times
now to take him, but the surgery has been cancelled every time. He is scheduled
again for the 10th of Dec. We are praying this will be it.
Pigs and Rabbits Continuing to try and be
more self-sufficient, we have purchased two
pigs and four rabbits. One of the dogs got one
pig hoping for better luck in the future.
Trip up North We got a chance to go five
hours north to Quiche and visit some
missionary friends for two days. We had some fun relaxing and catching
up. Thanks Simeon, Casey, and Micah for watching the kids!

Child Highlight
Name: Diego
Age: 8 yrs
Sex: male
Home Town: Tiquisate
Arrival Date: April 2013
DOB: July 2nd, 2006

Story: Diego was born in a town on the coast. His mom abandoned him with
his grandmother at the age of two. The grandmother repeatedly burned and
beat him over the next few yrs of his life. Last April at age 6 1/2, he
ran away from home and a man offered to take him to the hospital. After
recovery, the hospital asked us to take him in since he couldnt nor did
he want to be returned to his grandmother. This was the same hospital we
got Candelaria from months earlier and that is why they referred Diego
to us as well. Diego was placed permanently in our care since his mother
hadnt been heard from in five years and he had no other family who
could care for him. Just recently his mom appeared in court and said she
changed her lifestyle and wanted to take Diego and raise him. Diego
didnt know who she was and said he wanted to stay with us since he has
been with us going on two yrs. The judge re opened the case and
scheduled a hearing for March 6th, 2015. Please pray for Diego and the
judge that Gods will be done in his life. Diego loves to ride bikes and
is very talented at bike stunts which he does over most of his free
time. He is very sweet and enjoys school. He had no schooling when he
came and now he can read and will start first grade this January.
Diegos favorite game is memory.
